the abstract as archive

One of the hardest things about living in the digital/word processing age and being a person who thinks in words – by writing them on a page – is that you end up with lots and lots and lots of copies of everything that you write. They are generally formatted in a somewhat different manner, or the content has been skewed slightly to appeal to one audience or another, but in reality, they are just a new-fangled version of old-fashioned carbon copies.
And they are very difficult to get rid of.
When I actually had to keep hard copies of everything I’d ever written it was easier – not easy, but easier – to clean house. Now, it is very difficult.
And I’m an organized minimalist.
But there it is, just the same.
So this page is really just an online archive of some of our ideas: some that have floated and progressed, some that have stagnated, some that have vanished entirely (except, of course, in the virtual world). It’s just a small part of the things I can’t get rid of. But at least now I can move them out of my house.
