For one year, the OAFactory lived and worked in Chicago under the names Beauregard and Lily Mae Sage. Beau and Lily used specifically loaded cultural symbols – for instance, assuming the iconography of the “Hollywood-ized” cowboy – as a way of catalyzing conversation around a central question: What does it mean to be an American in the twenty-first century? What can we carry with us into this new century and what must we leave behind?
